Pumps from DENIOS enable safe and accurate filling from drums or containers into smaller containers or receptacles of any kind. Depending on the requirements, the pumps are optimised for different hazardous substances and are available in different versions. The different immersion depths of the pumps fulfil individual requirements.

Safe handling of hazardous substances requires special pumps to minimise risks and increase efficiency. In this guide, you will learn which aspects need to be considered when selecting and using pumps for hazardous materials and how the specific requirements of different materials and applications can be taken into account. We provide a comprehensive overview of how to select the right pump drive, how to work with different containers and how to handle waste oil.
It is often necessary to fill hazardous materials precisely - for example, from a large container into a smaller container. With large containers in particular, it is almost impossible to tip or tilt them for filling without risking spillage or having to apply a lot of force.
To give you the greatest possible freedom of action in your daily work with hazardous substances, the DENIOS range includes a large selection of different pumps that are resistant to many of the most common hazardous materials. Electric pumps and pneumatic pumps enable safe and accurate filling from drums, IBCs or other large containers.
Pumps for hazardous materials enable safe and accurate filling from drums, e.g. into smaller containers. They are available in different versions depending on the requirements. The container size, the desired delivery rate and, last but not least, the suitability of the pump for the medium to be filled are important factors when selecting the optimum product. The viscosity and chemical properties of the media play a decisive role in choosing the right pump. There are pumps for mineral oil products, pumps for chemicals, acids and alkalis, as well as pumps for flammable liquids.
The most important criteria when selecting a suitable pump is the fluid to be pumped. Liquids vary greatly in their viscosity and chemical properties. There is no pump that can pump all media satisfactorily - and the pump must of course also be resistant to the medium to be filled. Depending on the requirements, pumps are therefore optimised for different hazardous materials.
Manual, electric, battery-powered or pneumatic? Different drive systems are available depending on how often and for what quantities you want to use your pump. While electric and pneumatic pumps are generally designed for larger containers and primarily enable large quantities to be filled quickly, manual pumps are more suitable for the occasional filling of smaller quantities. The viscosity of the media to be pumped also has a significant influence on the choice of drive system. When deciding between an electric, battery-operated or pneumatic pump, the connections available in the business are important. Pneumatic pumps can often achieve the best results with materials that are particularly difficult to pump. We have summarised the most important advantages and disadvantages of the various pump drives below.
Electric pumps are the tried and tested classics for filling and transferring liquid substances from a wide variety of containers - from canisters to IBC containers. They ensure efficient and ergonomic operation for larger delivery volumes and/or regular use.
Advantages |
---|
Efficient and compatible with almost all materials |
Efficient and compatible with large delivery volumes |
Suitable for frequent and/or continuous operation |
Disadvantages |
---|
Power connection required on site |
Battery pumps enable mains-independent, cordless filling and decanting - ideal for mobile use, for flexible use at several workstations and wherever no connection is available. Battery pumps are suitable for low-viscosity, aqueous to slightly viscous media. To avoid charging breaks, rechargeable batteries can be kept in stock and easily replaced.
Advantages |
---|
Mobile and flexible in use |
Completely independent of existing connections |
Efficient and compatible for frequent use with low-viscosity, aqueous to slightly viscous media |
Disadvantages |
---|
Not suitable for very viscous materials |
A pneumatic pump is particularly powerful and therefore often the appropriate choice for media that are particularly challenging to pump. These include substances with extremely high viscosity or abrasive substances or substances containing solids.
Advantages |
---|
Suitable for extremely viscous and difficult to pump materials |
Efficient and compatible for large delivery volumes |
Suitable for frequent and/or continuous operation |
Disadvantages |
---|
Pneumatic connection required on site |
Manual pumps work with hand or foot operation. They are a cost-effective alternative for occasional use and for pumping small quantities of low-viscosity materials. Even the removal of small quantities from larger containers such as drums is possible: Depending on the model, the immersion tube can be adjusted to the container depth.
Advantages |
---|
Mobile and flexible in use |
Completely independent of existing connections |
Cost-effective |
Disadvantages |
---|
High effort and time required for large delivery volumes |
Not suitable for viscous materials |
May not be suitable for high delivery volumes |
Not suitable for continuous use |
The container from which the liquid is to be pumped is also decisive for the pump selection. Depending on whether you want to pump from small canisters, drums or 1,000 litre IBCs, the pump must have the right immersion depth and delivery rate. The pump connection must also match the thread of the respective container. We offer you a large selection of different pump types - from mini pumps to tank pumps. If the thread does not fit, you can use a thread adapter.
Certain applications require specialised pumps. This is why you will also find several pumps for specialised requirements in the extensive DENIOS range. For example, gas-tight pumps for odourless filling of strong-smelling substances such as ammonia. Or mini pumps for the safe filling of small quantities in laboratories. Our range also includes mobile pump systems that combine the performance of an electric pump with optimum flexibility. Pumps suitable for dry running are the solution for applications where draining from below (floor drain) is required.
If you want to transfer used oil from a large container to a smaller one, we recommend the electric pumps or the pneumatic pumps. Various models are available depending on the container size and application area. The electric and pneumatic pumps are particularly suitable for transferring waste oil, as they guarantee efficient work with viscous substances and oils. They are also efficient at high flow rates and are suitable for continuous operation.
