Preservation and storage of hazardous substances are always a particular challenge for companies. If the quantities to be stored are stored in only a few 205 litre standard drums or IBCs with a capacity of 1,000 liters, a hazardous materials cabinet is no longer sufficient. A large warehouse, however, is oversized and expensive. For these cases, we have developed an economic solution that can be used to save small quantities of large containers in a space-saving and safe way: Our hazardous substance depots.
Manufacturers face the challenge of designing products that meet all legal requirements. In the case of a leak, a spill pallet must be able to hold the contents of the largest container or at least 110% of the stored quantity. Hazardous substance depots are designed for storing 205 litre drums and IBCs. The standard built-in sump guarantees the required collection volume.
When designing our products we also place great importance on user-friendliness. For example, depending on the model and equipment, the vertical and horizontal storage of 60 litre drums in our hazardous substance depots is possible. Small containers can be accommodated on optionally available installation shelves. Certain model series can be equipped with filling blocks for filling and dosing operations. Versions with a comfortable interior height enable a safe and convenient loading of the depots. The equipment includes integrated fork pockets or enough ground clearance to ensure easy transport with a forklift or pallet truck.
For many companies, outdoor storage is ideal because it does not give away expensive production space. Dangerous substance depots have a stable roof construction and therefore also enable covered storage on the premises. Depending on the model, a special roof pitch with integrated rain gutter ensures that rainwater is discharged to the rear. The doors can be locked to protect against unauthorised access.
Steel hazardous material depots are approved for the correct storage of substances of all water hazard classes and for the passive storage of flammable liquids. They are made of sturdy sheet steel construction and have natural ventilation. The integrated spill tray is manufactured and meets all current requirements.
When it comes to the storage of aggressive liquids such as acids and alkalis, steel containment systems are less suitable. This is where plastic hazardous material depots are used.
Polyethylene (PE), as a plastic, offers high resistance to acids and alkalis and other water-polluting but non-flammable liquids. It is much cheaper than stainless steel, which can have a comparable resistance.
